Port Washington Play Troupe
Varsity Choral Society
The Varsity Choral Society, directed by Craig Tocher, sings every Christmas season at the Congregational Church of Manhasset, typically accompanied by string orchestra and organ.
The group consisted of professional and talented amateur vocalists from Port Washington, Manhasset and the greater Town of North Hempstead, and was open to anyone interested in the challenge of fine choral music.
The group sang its 30th and final annual holiday concert in 2019.

About the Varsity Choral Society
Founded in 1989 by Robert B. G. Horowitz along with fellow musicians and singers, the Varsity Choral Society was launched in tribute to Jerald B. Stone, who taught at Port Washington's Paul D. Schreiber High School from 1967 to 1982. At Schreiber, Stone led a select singing group called the "Varsity Choir," and the founding members of VCS adapted this name as a way to honor him—as well as invite him to conduct in the group's earlier years.
